US Dollar Steadies At EGP 6.97 In Easter Holiday

The exchange rates of Arab and foreign currencies steadied against the Egyptian pound yesterday amid low demand from dealers coinciding with Easter Holiday. The US dollar’s exchange rate steadied at EGP 6.9414 for buying and EGP 6.9715 for selling, while Euro stood at EGP 9.12 for buying and EGP 9.35 for selling. Pound sterling’s price steadied EGP 10.80 for buying and EGP 11.6 for selling. In addition, Swiss franc steadied at EGP 7.30 for buying and EGP 7.88 for selling and the Japanese yen’s price steadied as the ¥100 hit EGP 7.07 for buying and EGP 7.3175 for selling. As for the Arab currencies, the Kuwaiti dinar stood at EGP 24.21 for buying and EGP 24.63 for selling, and the Saudi riyal also remained with no change at EGP 1.8450 for buying and EGP 1.8930 for selling. Meanwhile, UAE dirham steadied at EGP 1.8850 for buying and EGP 1.9325 for selling. More»

Egypt’s gold traders chamber says gold prices will likely to have a gradual increase within the trading days of the current week of 3 percent. Nady Naguib - member of the gold traders chamber – the gold prices in Egypt are expected to rise by 3% during Easter vacation. Naguib rules out witnessing any unexpected changes in prices of gold amid the relative political and economic conditions. More»

In April, the US dollar’s price surged against the Egyptian pound in banks and forex firms by 2.27% to hit EGP 6.9344 for buying and EGP 6.9650 for selling. By the beginning of April, the US currency recorded EGP 6.8096 for buying and EGP 6.8397 for selling. The dollar continued to rally by 3.5 piasters per week until it eventually reached EGP 6.9650.
